Most households already own something that works. This page explains what each device family needs, and when a separate player or a small streaming box is required.
A Sonix IPTV subscription is used through a compatible IPTV player application on your own device. Support for a particular player depends on your device model and its app store, so confirm your setup with our team before you subscribe.
Smart TVs
Many modern smart televisions can run an IPTV player directly from their own app store, with no extra hardware attached.
Available players differ between television platforms and model years. Where a suitable player is not offered for your set, a small streaming box or stick connected over HDMI is the usual alternative.

Amazon Fire TV and Firestick
Fire TV sticks and boxes are a popular, inexpensive way to watch, and they plug into any free HDMI port.
Install a compatible player from the Amazon Appstore on the device, then enter the playlist details our team sends you. Keep the device on a stable connection for the best result.

Android TV and Google TV
Android TV boxes, Google TV streamers and Android-based televisions all use the Google Play Store to add a player.
Several well-established IPTV players are distributed through Google Play. Choose one, add your playlist details, and your channel list and guide populate inside that player.

Apple TV
Apple TV hardware uses players published on the tvOS App Store, installed the same way as any other Apple TV app.
Player availability on tvOS is narrower than on Android, so check which player you intend to use before buying hardware for this purpose.
Requires: A tvOS App Store player that accepts external playlists
Android phones and tablets
Watch on a phone or tablet at home or while travelling, using a player from Google Play.
Mobile viewing works well on a reliable connection. Remember that each simultaneous stream counts against the number of connections on your plan.

iPhone and iPad
iOS and iPadOS players are installed from the App Store and accept the playlist details supplied with your subscription.
AirPlay to a compatible television is possible from a phone or tablet, though a dedicated streaming device usually gives a steadier picture.

Windows and Mac computers
Desktop and laptop computers can play a subscription through established free media players that support playlists.
A computer is a practical way to test a new subscription quickly, and useful when you are troubleshooting a television setup.

Practical advice
If your television will not run a player
This is common, and it is not a problem. Smart television platforms vary enormously, and a set that is only a few years old may have no suitable application available at all.
The usual answer is a small streaming stick or box connected to a spare HDMI port. It takes over the app side entirely, so the television is only acting as a screen. It is inexpensive, it takes minutes to set up, and it can be moved to another room or another television later.
Before buying anything, message us with your television make, model and rough age. We would rather tell you that your existing set is fine than have you buy hardware you did not need.
